Using the Christian Calendar

Question: Is using the Christian calendar regarded as befriending the kuffaar?.
Praise be to Allaah.  


It is not regarded as befriending them, but it is regarded as imitating them. 

The Christian calendar existed at the time of the Sahaabah, but they did not use it, rather they ignored it and used the Hijri calendar. 

They established the Hijri calendar and did not use the Christian calendar even though it existed at their time. This indicates that the Muslims should be independent of the kaafirs’ customs and traditions, especially since the Christian calendar is a symbol of their religion, because it is based on veneration and celebration of the birth of the Messiah at the turn of the year. This is an innovation introduced by the Christians, which we do not share or follow, so if we use their calendar that means we are imitating them. 

Praise be to Allaah, we have the Hijri calendar which was established for us by the caliph ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him), in the presence of the Muhaajireen and Ansaar, and this is sufficient for us.

    its imp to know our own calender..but its diff to live without following the other claneder these days unless all muslim countries decide to do so..hard to live in isolation else..

    Exactly the reason i gave when i was asked this question. But i think, from the idea that qatrey qatrey se darya banta hai, even if just we youngsters start using the Islamic calendar i think people will surely realize it's importance

REASON OF EXISTENCE

It so happens that we enter a room for a purpose but the moment we enter, we forget why we came altogether. Then in this brief period our attention diverts to some other task and we get engross in it. And after considerable time we suddenly remember the real task and we have a chance to complete it. The world is like that room, we entered in it with a purpose but we got distracted. before our time comes, we must do something about it or else, we'll be in " khasara" greatest loss after which there is no going back. I recently had a chance to come to know one of the great writers of Pakistan, Ibne Safi. Ibne Safi He has an ability to engage his reader and take him to places in his mind and than when reader finishes the novel, he has the urge to create exact environment in real. His protagonist obeys, respect the law and makes those around him to do so too. I think about how many minds he revolutionized. How much he changed the society. I am sure he put large amount of effort in salvaging the society and help people to take it to this far. His writings are timeless. They can be used by every individual of any age. He rightly read his times and the way he changed the track of thought of especially young minds is marvellous. His writing proves that he was of the men who don't complaint about circumstances rather stand up and remove the filth silently and efficiently.
