Against Reciprocation

"Oftentimes I lose the chance of doing a bhalai (goodness) because I am following the crowd. I reciprocate the deeds, their behavior towards me. I forget that there's a difference between me and them. Whatever they do, they will reap it. And I will reap my own deeds."

"لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَلَكُم مَّا كَسَبْتُمْ ۖ وَلَا تُسْأَلُونَ عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ"

"It will have [the consequence of] what it earned, and you will have what you have earned. And you will not be asked about what they used to do." Al-Baqarah:141

Why is there any need to mirror others actions then?
It is said that: "Do not ever lose the chance of doing bhalai even the smallest one"

We should avail every chance of it. Like we rush towards those 50% and 70% off neon signs? Exactly!

"Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is like the width of the heavens and earth, prepared for those who believed in Allah and His messengers. That is the bounty of Allah which He gives to whom He wills, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty." (Surah Al-hadeed:21)

Do not go for "since he/she mistreated me so badly, me too will do to him/her same. even more then that" Remember Hazrat Muhammad sallallahu alaehi wasallam went to ask after an old lady who used to throw thrash on him daily. He looked after her as she had fallen ill. He PBUH reciprocated her mistreat of him with IHSAN.

Why should I speak in lower when the person in front of me is shouting there lungs out at me? Why should I hold back and refrain from using a bad word when that person did? There's this urge to show your set of vocabulary containing all profanities at that moment; but we must know that this set of vocabulary I am going to shower on others is not going to get me any good grades from my Master. In fact I will fall lower and lower.

This reminds me an incident of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique Razi Allahu tala anha; A non-believer was shouting at Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique R.A. and he was listening to him patiently. Hazrat Mohammad PBUH was with him and he was smiling at his (Hazrat Abu Bakr's) patience, when suddenly that non-believer said something really harsh and Hazrat Abu Bakr couldn't hold back and so retorted. At this, Hazrat Muhammad sallallahu alaehi wasallam's face went all red and he stopped smiling. Hazrat Abu Bakr R.A. asked him; "you were smiling when he was mistreating me and when I replied back, it angered you, why? Hazrat Muhammad PBUH replied
"when you were patiently listening to him, an angel from Allaah SWT was replying back to him from your side and your retort sent him(angel) away."
See the effect of patience? Allaah take matters in His hands when we show patience for Him. Now reflect over the fact, is our getting back to that person is more effective or Allaah's?

We don't know which of the bhalai, did by us, will be so overwhelming that it will be the reason of our salvation on the day of Resurrection. Any of our bhalai can make our scales that Day so heavy that Allaah would give our account of deeds in our right hand.

If the person mistreating us forgot who he/she is, we shouldn't do the same. And who knows, our lower tone and shaista guftgu(decency) in contrast of their "out of control" rage will make them keep their temperaments in check next time.

"And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous" (Aal-Imran:133)
