Salaat In Masjid

Many of the People of the Scripture wish they could turn you back to disbelief after you have believed, out of envy from themselves [even] after the truth has become clear to them. So pardon and overlook until Allah delivers His command. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.----And who are more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allah from being mentioned in His mosques and strive toward their destruction. It is not for them to enter them except in fear. For them in this world is disgrace, and they will have in the Hereafter a great punishment." Al-Baqarah, ayah 109 and 114)

In this ayah, Allaah intimates Muslims that the Jews and Christians are jealous of you.(keep one thing in mind that they were envious of Muslims of the time, whose Imaan was like rock. They are not envious of us lot who are worst of our kind) They envy you, your ‘Imaan’ and your readiness to accept Islam. They were given the same opportunity. Allaah sent His Ambiya Alayhis Salaam and His books to them but they killed most of those Ambiya mercilessly and tampered their books, two heinous crimes against Allaah. On the other side Sahaba ikram razi Allaahu ta'ala anhum embraced both Allaah's Rasul sallallahu aleyhi wasallam and His book,the Quran with an open heart. They followed Rasul Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam in every aspect. Wherever Rasul (S.A.W) took them they followed willingly and after Rasul sallallahu alayhi wasallam they perserved his teachings and the Quran. So they(Jews and Christians) want to bring you off the track. They want to take away your Imaan at all cost, through every possible mean. And in doing so they don't mean any good for you as they show, they are so ferocious in their jealousy that it boils in their blood and they show it(envy) many times.(Ma'rif ul Quran)

After this disclosure, Allaah ta'ala knew that Muslims will be enraged and so He calms them down and advises them to keep doing what they are ordered to do. Soon there will be a ruling (which is a general rule in nature for such activities, i.e- qital and jizya) for their activities.(Ma'rif ul Quran)




In the next ayah, Allaah ta'ala then relates one of Jews's and Christians's scheme of taking them as far as possible from their religion, they work to keep Muslims away from Masajid’s. Allaah ta'ala gives an example; in Hazrat Mohammad sallallahu alyhi wasallam's time they kept him and Sahaba ikram RA from Masjid-e-Haraam and from performing Hajj. Rasul Allaah and Sahaba ikram RA had come all the way from Medinah with their sacrificing animals all prepared to perform hajj. But they were forced to return without performing Hajj(at that time many Sahaba especially Hazrat Umar RA was very very sad and enraged but Rasul Allaah cooled him down). (Ma'rif ul Quran)




That was the example from past. This scheme is still carried out in present times. They are blasting bombs in our masajid’s especially in Friday congregations, to keep the Muslims away from performing salaat in the most desired way. They want to scare away Muslims from going to a Masjid by creating terror and building fear of death but they are wrong. They can't frighten us with the dread of death. Being a Muslim we have firm belief that death comes at its own time and we can't run away from it, be it in a Masjid bomb blast or at home. Besides, what could be better then dying for Allaah and what more in Allaa’s very own home! And, it is not (shayan-e-shaan) be-fitting for a Muslim to show cowardice.

What has to come, will come. And when it does, we'll have to face it.

A note to Muslim brothers: Please try your best to perform each of your salaat in a masjid. Allaah ta'ala loves that particular namaz which is performed in a masjid. And think about it, it is such a great act and blessing that Jews and Christians are scheming for hundreds of years to keep us away from masjid’s. What is it in performing a salaat in a masjid that they are so much against it? Think about it.
