A bowl of truth
This poem was published in "The Intellect" in 2009. It it written by Zawjah Farid
The lightning thunder, or our thoughts asunder
The soul that promised righteousness
Why humans, are you so thankless?
Unfair it is and very so!
Deep, deep in the quagmire
REFLECTING ON OUR "PROMISE":
THE PRIMORDIAL COVENANT ("AHD-ATLAST")
The treading feet, the searching soul
An ocean deep, a baseless bowl
The lightning thunder, or our thoughts asunder
We walk from the truth, ever wonder?
The soul that promised righteousness
A heart that beats on through its test
we fail again and yet again
The soul ashamed of our bargain
Why humans, are you so thankless?
Of all that's yours and nature's bliss
Unfair it is and very so!
You reap the seed that you shouldn't sow!
Deep, deep in the quagmire
Weep, weep my sinless soul
The sinless soul, the conscious mind
Rivals forever, the latter's blind
The battle goes on and who will win?
The strands of truth or oceans of sin
Alas! Man is weak today
Has lost his grace and forever may stray
If only you rekindle your soul
Give a base to the half-filled bowl
If only you hold the rope of truth
Then only, you can eat the fruit
Of heavens and a beautiful abode
The good end of the righteous road!
Loved it :)
